Whitemud, AB - June 2nd

Whitemud is the second event of the 5 Peaks Northern Alberta Trail Running Series. Located in Whitemud Park in the heart of Edmonton’s river valley, this event is one of the most challenging courses of the series offering hard pack, bridge crossings, fast singletrack, and a downhill run to the finish. This area is a local favourite for hill training and stair climbing and is a popular meeting spot for many local run groups. Held in early June, race day is typically warm and sunny. Race distances and maps are subject to change based on trail conditions up to the day of the race.

You can expect many sections that are technical and demand agility/alertness to overcome a variety of technical terrain. Make roots, rocks, and sharp up/downhills your friends on this race as you enjoy the run! Grind up the hills and enjoy the flowing single track as you make your way down to the ravine. The sport course is approximately 8.3 km. The enduro course is a single loop covering approximately 13.4 km of trail.

  • 8:30 a.m. - Packet Pick Up Begins

  • 9:00 a.m. - Sherri’s Back-Of-The-Pack Sport Start -Hikers/Walkers

  • 9:15 a.m. - 3K Kid's Run Start

  • 9:35 a.m. - 1 KM Kid's Run - sign up is free and done the morning of the race.

  • 10:00 a.m. - Enduro/Sport - Self Seeded Waves

  • 10:30 a.m. - Post Race Food

  • 11:30 a.m. - Awards

Safety: In the interest of racer safety and because of the size of our attendance and the technicality of our course, please do not bring the following on the race course:

No dogs
No headphones
No strollers or baby joggers
No nordic walking poles

Washrooms: Washroom facilities are available at Start / Finish area.

Spectators: Spectators Welcome...best viewing is from start/finish area.

Parking: Parking is limited so please carpool if you can.

Awards & Prizes: All finishers of the 3K, Sport, and Enduro events will be awarded with a finisher swag item. Finisher medals can be pre-purchased through Race Roster or on site while supplies last. Awards ceremony will be held once results are compiled following the completion of all competitors. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each gender in each age category in each distance category, as well as the top three male and female finishers overall. All awards must be picked up at the race and will not be mailed.

Medals: We recognize the importance of memorializing one’s efforts and we’d like to offer each member of our community the opportunity to celebrate their achievements with sustainably sourced wooden medals made in Canada. The cording, the wood and the paint used to create these medals are all proudly sourced by Canadian small businesses. These medals will be available for pre-purchase through Race Roster for $10 or $15 on race day.

You can customize your medal by adding a race venue charm, distance charm, or both. Medals and charms will vary from event to event. To pre-purchase your medal, please click on the Race Roster Event Store button below, add the medal to your cart, and complete your payment. The medals are 3” tall by 2.95” wide and 100% baltic birch.  Medals are $10 through Race Roster or $15 on race day. Customized charms are $1 per charm, all subject to availability.

We are proudly a cup-free event: All of our events are cup-free. This means that there will not be cups at the start or finish line or at any of the aid stations on course. Water and electrolyte drink will be available at the start and finish line and at one or more aid stations throughout the race (varies by venue). If you plan to be out for longer than an hour, please carry a receptacle for drinking and transporting liquid, calories and electrolytes.
