Hot tips from past runners:

If you’re a fan of the incredible 5 Peaks Trail Running Series events, please know that the vibe is just as fun but this course is much more challenging. Do your research and preparation. You should have realistically run a minimum of 25km-30km on trail before attempting the marathon distance. The elevation is significant and practicing once a month on your local hill ain’t going to cut it. HIT THE TRAILS- Calgary Trial Runners or Canmore Trail Culture are great and supportive groups for training on the trails in the Bow Valley. NOTE: both distances have two creek crossings so be prepared to run with wet feet!

Mandatory Gear

  • Hydration Pack or the ability to carry at least 1 litre of liquid and fuel at all times.

  • Jacket

  • Gloves

  • Head covering (toque, beanie, Buff, etc.) Must cover the ears.

Suggested Equipment:

  • Calories are essential to fuelling your body. The aid stations are spectacular but please ensure you can carry your own fuel for in between aid stations.

  • bear spray

  • trail shoes are highly recommended

Be sure to thank the volunteers and bring your positive, supportive attitude because the trail running community is like no other! Can’t wait to see you on race day!
