5 Peaks to Host Canadian Mountain Running Champs
5 Peaks is pleased to continue our longtime partnership with Tourism Revelsoke and Revelstoke Moutain Resort to host the Canadian Mountain Running Championships in 2027 and 2028.
“It’s exciting to put Revelstoke on the map for mountain running, adding another feather in our cap for summer adventure opportunities. Hosting the Championships over two years allows us to build on the momentum created by 5 Peaks, which already draws competitive runners to tackle distances ranging from shorter climbs to demanding ultra-distance courses with significant elevation gain,” said Tourism Revelstoke Executive Director Meghan Tabor. “We’re also excited about strengthening our collaboration with them, whose national reach and experience organizing trail events across Canada make them a natural partner in delivering a high-calibre championship. Together, we can build an event that highlights both elite competition and community engagement, while showcasing Revelstoke’s terrain to a broader national audience.”
Dates for 2027 are August 27-29, 2027
The mountain running championships consist of two distinct courses - an Uphill course and a Classic Up / Down course. Few venues have the vert necessary to meet the vert requirement for these disciplines, however, as the ski hill with the most vertical descent in North America, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is the perfect place to host the Canadian Mountain Running Championships.
The Uphill course will begin at the base of Revelstoke Mountain Resort and ascend a trail known as “Bottoms Up.” After cresting briefly at the mid station, competitors will continue climbing up “Kill the Banker,” traversing boulder fields until eventually arriving at the Outpost where stunning views and ice cold brews await!
The Classic Up / Down will start and finish where the Uphill ends - at the top of the second gondola. This course begins by ascending the appropriately named “Stoke Climb” trail. In addition to ascent, descent, and distance requirements, the up / down course is also required to have some technical singletrack sections. Once runners reach the top of the “Stoke Climb” they will continue to ascend up and around the sub peak of Mount Mackenzie on the slightly more technical “Sub Peak” Trail. After the 3km loop of the sub peak, runners will descend the way they came up on the “Stoke Climb” Trail, with panoramic views to the finish line.
The Canadian Mountain Running Championship events are scheduled for the last weekend of August in 2027 and 2028 at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. The Uphill Championships will be run on Friday afternoon. The Classic Up / Down will be run on Saturday morning.
If you’d like to preview the courses for the 2027 and 2028 Canadian Mountain Running Championship courses, we invite you to join us this year at the Stoked Ultra weekend August 28-30, 2026.
