Description:

The Kortright Centre for Conservation is Ontario's premier environmental and renewable energy education and demonstration centre. Situated just 10 minutes north of Toronto, on 325 hectares of pristine woodlands, Kortright Centre combines a natural oasis with some of the most leading edge sustainable education programs and events in Canada. On the route, explore forests and meadows, follow the boardwalk through the marsh and take in the scenery and wildlife as you tackle a mix of groomed hard packed double-wide trail and the gnarly ups and downs of the single track sections. This place is a hidden gem in the big city.

Park admission will be added to the race fee at time of registration. All race participants will be admitted to the park at no extra charge on race day. Spectators will need pay the park entrance fee at arrival on race day.


Directions:

The Kortright Centre is located 3km west of Highway 400, north Rutherford road and south of Major Mackenzie Drive on Pine Valley Drive.

Event Schedule:

8:00 AM - Packet Pickup for All Events
8:45 AM - Start of 3KM Kids Timed Event
9:15 AM - Start of Children's Challenge ( Free Kids Event )
9:30 AM - Start of Half Marathon Race
10:15 AM - Start of the Sport Race
10:30 AM - Post race food & beverage available in race compound
12:15 PM - Awards Ceremony for 3KM, Sport and Half Marathon
1:00 PM - Series Awards


Terrain:

The Kortright course is a lovely mix of fast twisty hard packed single tracked and wide open double track covering every type of terrain from soft pine needles to challenging roots and rocks. There are hills to thrill and boardwalks to challenge (be very careful when wet, the boardwalks can get slippery). Best of all is the sense of calm when running through the forests and meadows. It is a moment of Zen in the urban back yard. 

For those who like to learn on the run, the conservation area contains Canada's largest educational demonstrations of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies.


Important Notes:

In the interest of racer safety and because of the size of our attendance and the technicality of our course, it’s dangerous! 

NONE OF THESE THINGS BELONG ON THE TRAIL DURING THE RACE:

  • No dogs
  • No headphones
  • No strollers or baby joggers
  • No nordic walking poles

 

Spectators:

Spectators are welcome. Spectators who cheer will be rewarded with smiles.

 

Awards & Prizes:

Awards ceremony will be held following completion of all competitors (Approximately 12:15pm). Medals are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category in all distances, as well as top three male and female finishers overall.
