2010 Simon Fraser University Race Details

Date: Saturday, June 12, 2010
Location: Simon Fraser University and Burnaby Mountain. Starting area on University Drive East (SFU Campus). Parking lot "C" reserved for participants.
Directions: Directions to Simon Fraser University

From the East:
Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) going west — take the Gaglardi Way exit 37.
Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) going west — turn right (north) onto Gaglardi Way.
Turn right (east) on University Dr E., then turn left (west) on University High Street, which turns into E Campus Road. Follow E Campus Road until Parking Lot “C”.

From the West:
Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) going east — take the Gaglardi Way exit 37. Turn left (north) on University Dr E., then turn left (west) on University High Street, which turns into E Campus Road. Follow E Campus Road until Parking Lot “C”.
Or,
Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) going east — turn left (north) at Gaglardi Way. Turn left (north) on University Dr E., then turn left (west) on University High Street, which turns into E Campus Road. Follow E Campus Road until Parking Lot “C”.
Or,
Hastings Street (Highway 7A) going east — take the right lane exit at the traffic light at Barnet Highway (just past the pedestrian overpass). Continue onto Burnaby Mountain Parkway. Turn left (north) on University Dr E., then turn left (west) on University High Street, which turns into E Campus Road. Follow E Campus Road until Parking Lot “C”.

7:00 AM -Registration / Packet Pickup for the Children’s Challenge, Sport and Enduro
8:30 AM -Start of the Children’s Challenge 1K and any participants planning to walk the Sport or Enduro course.
8:45 AM -Sport & Enduro Pre-Race Briefing
8:55 AM -Elite Self Seeding Line up at Start Line
9:00 AM -Start of both the Sport & Enduro race
9:15 AM -Post race food & beverage available in race compound
11:00 AM -Awards Ceremony

Terrain: Combination of single-track hiking & biking trails trails. Starts at the top of Burnaby Mountain, drops down to the base of the mountain then back up. A challenging run meeting our technical terrain standards. We promise you won't be disapointed on the courses we've planned!
Elevation Gain: Sport Course: 402 m
Enduro Course: 614 m
First Aid & Water Stations: 2 Water/Aid Stations(1 at start / finish area, and 1mid way through course). First Aid attendants at the Start/Finish area, at aid station and throughout course with radio communication. Course sweep will travel behind last racer.
Washrooms: Start / Finish line area

Important Notes: In the interest of racer safety and because of the size of our attendance and the technicality of our course, it’s dangerous! NONE OF THESE THINGS BELONG ON THE TRAIL DURING THE RACE.
-No dogs
-No headphones
-No strollers or baby joggers
-No nordic walking poles
Spectators: Spectators are welcome: best viewing from Start/Finish area.
Awards/Prizes: Awards ceremony will be held following completion of all competitors. (Approximately 11:00am). Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category in all distances, as well as top three male and female finishers overall.
All awards must be picked up at the race and will not be mailed.
