2010 Sundre Snake Hills Race Details

Date: Saturday, July 24, 2010
Location: The Town of Sundre, located 40km west of the Town of Olds, Sundre is 130km north-west of Calgary or approximately 100km south-west of Red Deer. Sundre maintains approximately twenty-five kilometres of walking/biking/cross country skiing trails. Seventeen of these kilometres are located at Snake Hill Recreation Centre, a natural landmark which is preserved for the continued enjoyment of residents and visitors. The trail ratings on the hill range from easy to challenging.

Directions: Directions to Sundre
From Calgary
Take the Queen Elizabeth 2 Highway (North) and turn off at the Olds Overpass; follow Highway # 27 (West) through the town of Olds and all the way to Sundre.
Alternately, Sundre can be accessed from the west side of Calgary on Highway # 22 and Highway # 27, near the small community of Westward Ho.
From Red Deer
Take the Queen Elizabeth 2 Highway (South) and turn off at the Olds Overpass; follow Highway # 27 (West) through the town of Olds and all the way to Sundre.
Entering Sundre from East – Turn Right on Center St N

Start/Finish area at the corner of 6th Ave and Center St North.
Overflow parking is at the High School at 2nd Ave and Center St North.

8:00 AM -Registration / Packet Pickup for the Children’s Challenge, Sport and Enduro
9:30 AM - Start of the Children’s Challenge 1K and any participants planning to walk the Sport or Enduro course.
9:45 AM -Sport & Enduro Pre-Race Briefing
9:55 AM -Elite Self Seeding Line up at Start Line
10:00 AM -Start of both the Sport & Enduro race
10:15 AM - Post race food & beverage available in race compound
11:45 AM - Awards Ceremony

First Aid & Water Stations: 2 Water/Aid Stations(1 at start / finish area, and 1mid way through course). First Aid attendants at the Start/Finish area, at aid station and throughout course with radio communication. Course sweep will travel behind last racer.

Important Notes: In the interest of racer safety and because of the size of our attendance and the technicality of our course, it’s dangerous! NONE OF THESE THINGS BELONG ON THE TRAIL DURING THE RACE.

Spectators: Spectators are welcome: best viewing from Start/Finish area.
Awards/Prizes: Awards ceremony will be held following completion of all competitors. (Approximately 12:00pm). Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category in all distances, as well as top three male and female finishers overall.
