Located outside the world-famous Banff National Park with close access to the Calgary International Airport, Canmore is an ideal location for a running getaway. Runners will enjoy trails around Canmore, including Canmore Nordic Centre - Site of Olympic and World Cup Cross Country Ski and Biathlon Championships - as well as the world-class strength training facilities used by Cross Country Canada.  


Running Gait Analysis and Injury Prevention

Throughout the weekend, retreat attendees will be working with applied scientist, biomechanics specialist and strength coach, Malc Kent.

Malc has worked with Nike, Adidas, Garmin, dorsaVi and Stryd in the development of heart rate monitors, performance sensors, power meters and gait analysis sensors and is currently the co-owner and developer for Runscribe

Malc has been involved with applying wearable technology for 7 years and focused on running gait analysis for 5 years. In that time he has performed over 2000 assessments and helped runners stay injury free for periods of 3 years or more. 


Athlete & Coaching Bios of Amy & Jacob Puzey

Amy is a Registered Wholistic Nutritionist with over ten years experience and Jacob is an internationally certified running coach who has been coaching athletes from all over the world since 2004.  They have both directed multiple camps, clinics and races throughout the world.

Amy grew up in Canmore and has always been a mountain girl.  Her athletic career began early as a dancer, then swimmer, runner, and triathlete.  Amy ran cross country and track in high school & university and went on to represent Canada internationally as a member of the Canadian Mountain Running team.  

Amy studied nursing and wholistic nutrition at University and worked for several years as a nutritionist in the Bow Valley.  Amy stepped away from working in nutrition full-time when she became the national race director of the 5 Peaks Trail Running Series.

Over the past decade Amy has won the Canadian Mountain Running Championships, the Grizzly Ultra, the TransRockies Run Run 3, and many other running events ranging from 10K to ultra distances on the roads and trails.

Jacob also grew up in small towns, but the rural agrarian communities bore very little resemblance to terrain of Canmore.  Jacob began running cross country as a middle schooler and ran cross country and track in high school and university where his collegiate cross country team won two national team titles.  

Jacob began coaching high school and university students while still studying in university and began coaching, race and clinic directing full-time upon graduation from university.  Jacob currently coaches athletes from all over the world online through Peak Run Performance.

Jacob's running career highlights include the world record for 50 miles/80 km on the treadmill (4:57), 5 x national championships over various surfaces and distances, and multiple course records on roads and trails throughout North America.  Jacob has also coached numerous state and national champions and Boston Marathon qualifiers.
