New in 2013! 3k Kids Peaks Challenge.
We've had requests for years for a timed kids event so this year we're offering one! All 5 Peaks events in ach province will have the 3km Kids Peaks Challenge for kids under 17. Parents are welcome to run as support with their kids in this event. The Doctors of Nova Scotia have designed and are offering a free Runner's Handbook.
5 Peaks is already working with Everactive Schools
in Alberta and is planning to expand the Kids Peaks Challenge across Canada in the near future. If you are a parent or teacher, or you or anyone you know is interested in getting involved, we are looking for a great volunteer team to help us spread the word and resources so that all kids have a chance to train for and compete in some great events. Running is a fun and natural activity for kids and all you need is a pair of shoes!
- Under 9
Awards will be given to the Top racer in each division.
1km Children's Challenge
Registration for the 1km event is now free for children under 8 years of age with a paid adult. ( as long as one parent is racing, mulitple children from the same family can register) Each participant must register on race morning and his or her parent/gaurdian must sign a waiver. All participants will receive a finisher's ribbon at the finish line. We do not offer competitive age categories for this event. The race will take place 1/2 hour before the Sport and Enduro events.
Awards & Prizing
Check this out! With all the new sponsors, and concentration your overall value, this year we have even more great prizes to give away! All runners are eligible for over $40,000 worth of prizes throughout the series, through random draws and top place finishers. Make sure you race as many times as possible so you can capitalize on all the great gear we have lined up this year!!!...Remember you have to be there to win! Similar to previous years though, we'll also be giving away awards and prizes to the top 3 finishers in each distance at each race.
We'll also be tabulating points for the top 15 finishers in each race, and each age category with points contributing towards to the Series Championships. The more points you have at the end of the year, the better.
The Salomon XT Wings are just one of the many great prizes we have to give away each and every race! (pictured to the right). )
The perfectly balanced combination of two opposing concepts - cushioning and agility - is the most difficult problem to solve in trail running shoe design. This is Salomon's most balanced achievement thus far.
